Réalité et réalisme

En surfant, hier soir, je suis tombé sur la page Facebook de Naoki Iwao, un photographe qui travaille beaucoup en noir et blanc, et qui m’a surpris par la richesse, l’expressivité et le réalisme de ses oeuvres.

Beaucoup de photos sont prises dans les grands quartiers de Tokyo, comme Shibuya, mais montrent la réalité de la ville et non pas les « clichés » habituels. Naoki Iwao à l’oeil pour capter des images exprimant une forte humanité. Il mixe toutes les couches de la population et réussi à créer un fil conducteur dans des situations pourtant contrastées : des jeunes et des vieux, des personnes classiques et des néo-punks déjantés, la pauvreté et le luxe…

Toutes ces photos représentent des situations que l’on rencontre à Tokyo, surtout dans les quartiers branchés, mais que l’on ne photographie pas vraiment habituellement. Hélas ! Mais en regardant les centaines de clichés mis en ligne, ceux qui ont eu le plaisir d »aller à Tokyo arriveront à retrouver les bruits de rue, et même les odeurs caractéristiques de cuisine ou de l’atmosphère. Naoki Iwao a en effet ce don de capter l’instant, comme un regard furtif que nous posons sur un lieu ou une personne, et de le mémoriser avec tout son contexte.

昨夜のサーフィン中に、私は白黒でよく仕事をしている彼の作品の豊かさ、表現力、そしてリアリズムに驚いた写真家、岩木直樹さんのFacebookページに出会いました。

多くの写真は渋谷のような東京の主要な地域で撮られていますが、街の現実を表していて、いつもの「クリシェ」ではありません。強い人間性を表現する画像をキャプチャするために目に岩男直樹。それは人口のすべての層を混ぜ合わせて、対照的な状況で共通の糸をつくることに成功します：老いも若きも、古典的な人々と狂気のネオパンク、貧困と贅沢…

これらの写真はすべて東京を中心に、特に流行の近所で遭遇する状況を表していますが、私たちは通常は写真を撮っていません。ああ！しかし、オンラインで投稿された何百もの写真を見て、東京に行くのを楽しみにしていた人たちは、通りの騒音、さらには料理の独特の匂いや雰囲気さえも見つけるようになるでしょう。岩男直樹は、私たちが場所や人にもたらすステルスな表情として、そしてそのすべての文脈でそれを暗記することとして、その瞬間をとらえるという贈り物を本当に持っています。

While surfing last night, I came across the Facebook page of Naoki Iwao, a photographer who works a lot in black and white, and who surprised me by the richness, the expressiveness and the realism of his works.

Many photos are taken in major areas of Tokyo, like Shibuya, but show the reality of the city and not the usual « clichés ». Naoki Iwao to the eye to capture images expressing a strong humanity. It mixes all layers of the population and manages to create a common thread in situations that are contrasted: young and old, classic people and crazy neo-punk, poverty and luxury …

All these photos represent situations that are encountered in Tokyo, especially in trendy neighborhoods, but that we do not really photograph usually. Alas! But looking at the hundreds of photos posted online, those who have had the pleasure of going to Tokyo will come to find street noises, and even the characteristic smells of cooking or the atmosphere. Naoki Iwao indeed has the gift of capturing the moment, as a stealthy look that we pose on a place or a person, and to memorize it with all its context.
